Porchlight 2026

On the 3rd October we will be participating in the Kent Scouts Cardboard sleepout with all our amazing units at Brenchley and Matfield Scout Group, raising awareness and funds for Porchlight. 

Our Young Leader- Immy is organising this event on behalf of our group and we are having a fundraising afternoon for our members before we all set up our cardboard boxes, cook campfire stew and settle down for the night. 

Porchlight is a charity that has been set up to raise awareness, help and support for those people living with homelessness or the possibility of homelessness. Kent scouts have been working with Porchlight for a number of years now and in 2018 we raised a staggering £70,000 to help their charity, with the last event in 2022 raising over £40,000.

As scouts, we should all be aware of our community and help in any way we feel is correct to help those less fortunate than ourselves. As Robert Baden-Powell said in his final letter to all Scouts "But the real way to get happiness is by giving out happiness to other people. Try and leave this world a little better than you found it"

With these final words in mind, the mighty mighty B&M will do everything we can to help those less fortunate than ourselves and try to make a difference in a persons life.

For this sleepout, we will be giving up our beds for the night and sleeping outside in cardboard boxes to raise awareness and raise funds for this incredible charity. We are hoping to raise as much as we can for porchlight, setting a goal of £1500, so if you’re able to donate anything at all, it would be hugely appreciated.
